Thanks to all who attended last night's presentation on "The End of the Civil War (Part One). Hopefully the discussion and maps clarified and provided detail to the somewhat confusing aspects of the first ten days of April, 1865.

Reading recommendations for the Appomattox campaign are shown below. I have also provided a link to download the presentation itself as a PDF file.

Additionally I have provided links to some good reading on the campaign, including three chapters from Perry Jamieson's book Spring 1865, which I think does an excellent job at balancing just the right amount of detail with great readability.
