About the event
The Battles of Trenton and Princeton, fought in late December 1776 and early January 1777, were pivotal engagements in the American Revolutionary War. After a series of defeats, General George Washington led a surprise attack on the Hessian forces in Trenton on December 26, 1776, achieving a crucial victory that revitalized American morale. This was followed by another triumph at Princeton on January 3, 1777, where Washington outmaneuvered British troops, further bolstering the Continental Army's confidence. The aftermath of these battles marked a turning point in the war, as they not only inspired enlistments but also encouraged support for the revolutionary cause, demonstrating Washington's leadership and strategic acumen in the face of adversity.
